Search for investors is the main goal of the 5th Baikal Economic Forum and the ´Siberia and the Far East: Megaprojects and Programs’ Exhibition

Large scaled investment projects have to become a priority of the Irkutsk Oblast policy within the next few years, said Alexander Anchugin, director of the Oblast Economy Department. He said that such projects are a way to improve the Oblast social and economic conditions.

One of the goals of the Baikal Economic Forum and the ‘Siberia and the Far East: Megaprojects and Programs’ Exhibition is to attract potential partners. According to the SibExpoCenter press service, the Exhibition will present projects on development of mineral resources deposits, metallurgy, woodworking and production of wooden items, construction materials production, infrastructure innovations, and chemical production.

Among the projects are: Upper Chona oil-gas condensate field development; Ayan gas condensate field development; Chertovo Koryto and Verninskoye gold fields development; Taishet aluminum plant construction; management of mineral, energy, and labor resources of the East Siberia region within the metallurgy industry; high quality lumber production and construction of factories producing board and wood fuel pellets in Ust-Kut and Kirensky region; construction of a saw-mill and launching low-storied wooden (made of glued beams) cottages production  in Kachugsky and Shelekhovsky regions, construction of a plant producing gypsum plasterboard and dry construction mixtures in Nukutsky region;  infrastructural development of the Northern part of the Baikal-Amur Mainline; integral development of the electric power networks in the North of Irkutsk Oblast; construction of the Irkutsk-Novy airport; launching biobutanol production and a center for solar power technologies development, etc. The total cost of all the projects makes up more than 680 000 million rubles.
