VII BEF participants will discuss the issues of cooperation between Russia and ASEAN countries

On the proposal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, the round table "RUSSIA – ASEAN: Practice of Interaction" will be held for the first time within the framework of the Baikal Economic Forum.

In connection with the 2012 APEC summit that will be held in Russia, the ASEAN countries have shown great interest in the BEF. Philippines, Malaysia, Brunei, Myanmar, Thailand and other Asia-Pacific Region (APR)countries applied for participation in the Forum.

The round table is organized by the Chamber of Commerce of Russia, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Siberia. Georgiy Petrov, Vice-President of the RF Chamber of Commerce will moderate the round table.

As Bakhtiar Khakimov,Director of the Department of Asian and Pacific Economic Cooperation of the RF Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed, Dmitry Medvedev, Russian President, approved the Programme of Action in the Asia Pacific Region (APR)in April 2011; and instructed the Foreign Ministry to prepare a strategy for developing relations with Asia-Pacific region countries and the forecast of socio-economic development of the Far East until 2050. The main idea of ​​this document will be presented at the VII Baikal Economic Forum.

Round table 9 "RUSSIA – ASEAN: Practice of Interaction" will be held on September 13, 8:30-10:00 in the Irkutsk Railway State University, Academic Council Meeting Room (15 Chernyshevskiy street, Irkutsk).
