Brand new heat source is planned to be put up into operation while the VII BEF working days

Dmitry Mezentsev, the Irkutsk Oblast Governor, stated at the press-conference in the frames of “Baikal Press-2011” festival that it is necessary to make all possible efforts to stop dumping of waste water of BPPM into the Baikal.

He also expressed hope that visitors of the VII Baikal Economic Forum will be able to witness the startup of fundamentally new for the Irkutsk region heat source in Baikalsk.  The startup is planned tobecarried out remotely.

As the Irkutsk Oblast Government Press Service informs, Irkutskenergo, OJSC, being supported by the Oblast Administration, is constructing a heat pump unit (HPU) in Baikalsk town.

The necessary coordination with the local authorities has already been done; the technical requirement for the HPU connection to the Pulp and Paper Mill infrastructure is issued.  The contracts with the main equipment suppliers have already been concluded.

Construction of the heat pump unit is regarded as one of the pilot projects to demonstrate the possibility of using alternative energy in existing and advanced patterns of heating in the region.

It is completely environmentally safe heat source, which should be tested just in Baikalsk within the programme of the Russian President on energy conservation and efficiency. “It is an example of understanding and solving environmental problems in the region,” - said Dmitry Mezentsev .
