Sergei Mironov: the Forum peculiarity is the magnitude of the tasks that are set by its participants.

The VI Baikal Economic Forum programme  focuses on working out definite proposals for economic growth, increase of  investment and innovation attractiveness of Eastern regions. As the Council of the Federation Speaker, the VI Baikal Economic Forum Organizing Committee Chairman Sergei Mironov says, this Forum peculiarity is the magnitude of the tasks that are set by its participants.

"Earlier, we discussed mostly problems of overcoming the crisis to develop Siberia and the Far East, but the forthcoming Forum will focus on creating conditions for effective innovation development of economy, both of this macro region, and Russia in general. The vital problems of the life quality improvement, investment attraction, public-private partnership development and international cooperation will be discussed thoroughly", - said Sergei Mironov.

At the Forum, the particular attention will be given to promoting cooperation between Russia and Asia-Pacific Region (APR), including such organizations as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. According to Sergei Mironov, the Asia-Pacific Region  has become one of the key economic centers of the world. "The cooperation with the countries of this region is one of the main directions of Russian foreign policy. First of all, from the point of our national interests and the Far East and Siberia subjects development.

Certainly, the Council of Federation has been actively involved in solving these problems, including the forthcoming Baikal Economic Forum ", - said Sergei Mironov.

In the Forum frames, two plenary sessions are scheduled. The topics are:  "Regions of Russia:  Modernization and Innovation Development", "Siberia - Land of Opportunity. Irkutsk - Point of Support”, as well as the international conference "Europe - Russia - Asia-Pacific Region: Transport Infrastructure Development”.

According to the Council of the Federation Chairman, another important feature of the forthcoming Forum will be the Baikal Venture Fair, which is to present a large number of innovative high-tech companies of Siberia and the Far East. "This event will bring together representatives of more than two dozen venture capital funds and private equity financing, as well as a number of Irkutsk high-tech companies. To our mind, it will be a kind of promise of Asia –Pacific countries, interested in the development of joint high-technology projects ", - he said.
