New concept of Russian cities modernization will be discussed at VI Baikal Economic Forum

Three main topics will be considered at the round table dedicated to new approaches of the city environment modernization. It will be part of VI Baikal Economic Forum on September, 9, 2010. One of topics will be development of space and the system of settling apart, besides, it is planned to discuss issues of Russian cities development and modernization of the city environment. Such decision was taken at organizing committee for preparation of the round table; it recently took place in Moscow.

At organizing committee there were representatives of the Union of Architects of Russia, Russian ÀÀÑÍ, Institute of the General Plan of Moscow and Dmitry Jalov – deputy minister of economic development, labor, science and higher education of Irkutsk region and Vladimir Rasputin – main architect of Angara Region.

Moderators of the round table shall be Alexander Kuzmin, the main architect of Moscow and vice-president of the Russian Architecture and Construction Academy and Vladimir Knyaginin – director of the Fund “Center of strategic developments "Northwest".

Alexander Kuzmin told to the VI BEF press center that at the Baikal forum the leading scientists and architects of Russia will discuss the strategy of spatial development of the East of Russia, the comprehensive scheme of the country territorial planning instrument of “Strategy 2020”, about the basic centers of the system of settling apart and of industrial development of Eastern Siberia, etc. Vladimir Knyaginin will present “Strategy of social and economic development of Siberia and the Baikal region till 2020”. Andrey Bokov, the president of the Union of architects of Russia, shall report on “Modernization of the city environment”. Jury Perelygin, president of the National Guild of Town-planners will share experience of reconstruction of 130th block of historical buildings in Irkutsk. Alexander Kuzmin noted that special attention shall be paid to the development of Irkutsk, taking into account its climate, geographical position, etc.

The following session of organizing committee for preparation to the round table “Modernization of the city environment – new approaches” will take place in the Federation Council of the Russian Federation under the guidance of vice-president Svetlana Orlova who will also take part in Baikal Economic Forum.
